| The craft of casting has a 6000-year history.
Art casting has always been intrinsically related to continuing
research and experimentation. As the pieces produced are most
often one of a kind, each one presents new challenges to be
overcome.
The focus of our work is the casting of models using the
lost wax process. In this process a wax copy is made from
the original model, and a heat-resistant mould is produced
from this copy by burning out the wax. The casting is then
made in bronze or copper alloy, or in other metals such as
iron or aluminium. Depending on the model and material used,
the casting may instead be produced in the sand casting technique
or using a ceramic mould.
Sculptures are also often made from non-metal materials such
as synthetics, wax or artificial stone, and thus require other
crafting techniques. Diverse other materials
are needed during the various phases of the work. |
