Blockskulptur 2004
The memorial in honour of Katharina von Zimmern is located in
the cloister of the Fraumünster, which was originally the
convent of the city of Zurich. The work consists of 37 solid
copper blocks weighing up to 850 kg each. The sculpture weighs
a total of 11 tonnes. The casting of pure copper is precarious
as there is the danger of internal cavities forming. The precise
milling and sanding of single blocks of such large mass presented
further challenges
