Katalin Deér was the first artist to spend a longer period in the foundry’s guest atelier. In her sculptural work photographic images (with their own spatial reality) are projected into 3-dimensional “bodies”. The borders between 2 and 3 dimensional levels of perception are blurred, the scales of architecture and furnishings are altered, and new entities are created, which are then once again photographed. Both in her sculptural as well as photographic work, layers of contradicting representations make it possible to recognise the endless cycle of perception.
The basis and components of the sculptures are often tables or chairs, which are in part found objects and in part specifically produced. The Kunstgiesserei has built numerous such objects and provides assistance with technical difficulties.
