Horta van Hoye works as both a sculptor and a theatre and performance artist. For her pantomimed pieces, she develops designs made of newspaper with which she communicates on stage. In her sculptural work, she often creates human figures that interact with each other in gymnastics or in play. In 1990, she created a chain of “wheelbarrow figures“, in which those standing hold the legs of those standing on their hands, for a kindergarten in Appenzell. The Kunstgiesserei cast multiple such groups in bronze. Horta van Hoye is currently working in Canada on an installation for a park, in which old and new sculptures will be united.
