Erdschwere 1990
The sculpture “Erdschwere“ consists of an approximately
6-metre long section of ploughed earth that was moulded on a
field. A measurement of the gravitational constant was performed
not far from the site of the exhibition in the building of the
vocational school in Lucerne. This measurement provides important
geological data about the composition of the layers of the earth.
The point where the measurement was taken was marked by a drilled
hole, through which it is also possible to glimpse the railroad
tracks that run underneath the building. The drill hole is encircled
by a cast-iron ring on which the results of the measurement
are recorded. |

Kletterstange 1997
For this site-specific art project, Torgler climbed a 9-metre
high pole covered with a layer of heated wax. A bronze casting
was produced from the pole with the impressions left by his
body, and was installed in the stairway of an old-age home in
Niederurnen. A dried gentian is preserved in a glass case in
the lift located next to the staircase. |
